| | Welcome to ShoutIRC.comWelcome to the home of the ShoutIRC Radio Bot. The bot can interact with your IRC channel, announce song/dj changes, take requests, and even Auto DJ on SHOUTcast, Icecast, and Steamcast when no one is doing it live. You can even let users search songs and make requests via Twitter. ShoutIRC was the first Auto DJ Bot ever developed, and is still the best there is. It is capable of multiple networks (up to 16 IRC servers), multiple channels (up to 16 channels per IRC server, can be unique to each server), and much, much, more.

| IRCBot v5 Stable - Posted by [Indy] on 02-04-2012 at 07:07:01pm | IRCBot v5 is now our current stable version. As always if you find any bugs just post a support ticket or IM me; and if you have any ideas for the bot you can post a feature request on the Feature Requests page.
IRCBot v4 has moved to the 'Major Bugfix Only' stage of support and v3 is now no longer supported.
If you are upgrading from v3/v4 to v5, you may want to check out the migration page on the wiki to see the few minor ircbot.conf options that have changed: http://wiki.shoutirc.com/index.php/Conf ... _Migration | | Comments? If you have recently updated your bot and now get "Got garbage from server [X]", you may have a password set that was previously ignored but now causes an error.
To fix it:
Shoutcast v1: You can either just remove the Pass line from your SS/ServerX section; or set Pass to your shoutcast admin password. The only benefit of the admin password is it would use less bandwidth scraping.
Shoutcast v2: Set Pass to your shoutcast admin password, the password is currently required for Shoutcast v2 since they keep changing the HTML. | | Comments? Most users were unaffected who update the bot on a regular basis since the backup server handled it. It performed well thankfully and I'm glad for that.
I thought I would post these hints/tips in case of any future outages to make things go more smoothly:
1. Run Updater to update the bot at least once every 2 weeks. You can also automate this in a cron job on Linux/BSD. (Don't forget to back up your current version just in case).
2. I definitely advise people to add me to their instant messengers in case of any kind of disruptions since those won't be affected. You can find my instant messenger handles on the contact page here: http://www.shoutirc.com/index.php?load=Contact& (Note I am only on AIM sometimes, so Yahoo/MSN are definitely preferred).
3. Remember if the main server is down, so is my email so I won't get any emails sent until after the server is back up. I also won't get notices on Facebook if you post on the Facebook page, but in the future I will try to remember to check it if there is any downtime.
Also in the case of downtime, if you need to download a copy of the bot you can do so at: http://backup.shoutirc.com/ | | Comments? There haven't been any reported bugs in a long time and my personal copies have been running months without a crash or error.
If you haven't tried IRCBot v4 yet, I would suggest you try it now. Your IRCBot v3 config file is 99% compatible and you can always go back to v3 if you decide you don't like v4. | | Comments? (0) |
